This bill would have ensured that government agencies could not ask for or reveal members of 501(c)(3) organizations or holders of hunting licenses.  While legitimate concerns have been raised about the role of non-profit corporations as shells for monied interests to influence elections, this is dangerous policy.  People have a right to speak out, even anonymously on important issues.  Historically, the US Government has used membership lists to target citizens for surveillance and arrest.  Disclousre can lead to harassment and intimidation and discourage people from exercising their right to associate freely.
