This bill would have required local law enforcement to enforce immigration law. It would have prohibited localities from enacting laws, ordinances or policies that prevented enforcement of federal immigration law. Requiring local law enforcement to enforce immigration law removes local control, prosecutorial discretion, and is dangerous. Survivors of crime are less likely to get police involved if they are worried about immigraiton enforcement. That means crimes go unaddressed.
