This bill would have created a drug court program for parents who have been charges with abuse or neglect secondary to substance abuse. The drug courts have been one effective tool in finding alternatives to incarceration. Expanding this program to parents struggling with substance abuse disorder would help keep families together, reduce trauma, and limit the strain on the foster care system.
